Magpies frustrated by waterlogged pitch

The League One clash between Tranmere and Notts County was abandoned after 54 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch. Referee Paul Quinn called a halt to proceedings at Prenton Park with the Magpies leading 1-0 courtesy of Alan Gow's strike Gow gave County the lead in the 28th minute, beating Tony Warner with a fine left-foot strike from 25 yards after Lee Hughes chested the ball into his path. Gow had an opportunity to double the advantage soon after but his shot was too weak and was held by Warner. Tranmere should have levelled in the 39th minute. Krystian Pearce tripped Joss Labadie but Andy Robinson blasted well over from the penalty spot. Ash Taylor flashed a header inches wide for Rovers. But as the rain poured down, play was after the referee Quinn had consulted both managers.
