Fairlcough backs Tranmere switch

Fairclough, who enjoyed a spell with the Wirral club, believes the quality of the Prenton Park pitch will be a big benefit to John McMahon's side who will move from Warrington's Halliwell Jones Stadium. "It's a good footballing surface at Prenton Park and I think that will be a key asset for the team," he told the club's official website. "The accommodation at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and the way Liverpool were received was first class, but unfortunately the pitch didn't suit a passing game. "They will benefit from playing on a good surface and it's not too far away to go to Tranmere. "Hopefully we will get some good crowds next season with people looking to see the young players."
