Barnes has come under increased scrutiny following a miserable run of five defeats in six League One outings so far this season.
The latest setback was a 3-0 thumping at Carlisle, but the efforts of Taylor - a second-half substitute at Brunton Park - provided Barnes with a rare positive.
He said: "Every time Ash has played he has shown the kind of spirit and desire I want in my side. We just need more players to have that attitude on the field."
Meanwhile, defender Gavin Gunning has returned to Blackburn after completing a month-long loan but Grenada international striker Kithson Bain is due to join Rovers' squad this week.
