Barnes sets out plans for Rovers

Rovers came within a whisker of claiming a coveted play-off berth last term, only to be denied in the final game as Scunthorpe held them to a 1-1 draw. That result meant the Iron finished sixth and went up via the play-offs but Barnes is now plotting another promotion push after being installed as Ronnie Moore's successor at Prenton Park. "The name of the game for 90% of the teams is consistency," said the former Liverpool and England winger. "Some teams are looking to win the league and win it in style, but for 90% of the teams if you can be consistent, you will be successful. "Getting a system down as early as possible which the players understand will help that process of consistency."
