Barnes happy with Rovers display

Former Celtic and Jamaica boss Barnes began his Rovers reign with a 2-0 defeat at Yeovil on the opening day of the League One campaign. But three goals in nine first-half minutes from Paul McLaren, Ian Thomas-Moore and Craig Curran put Rovers in control against the Mariners before Gareth Edds completed the scoring midway through the second half. Barnes said: "It is nice to be in the next round and we go on from here. We want to get into the habit of putting in good performances and winning. We want to make Prenton Park a fortress. "Overall I have got to be happy with the game. We moved the ball well and got players into the right areas. "We dominated in the first half and scored three goals. We lost our way a little later but it was comfortable for us really. Our keeper did make some great saves but that is what he is there to do. Our defenders did well and got forward well which was pleasing."
