The 19-year-old, who has been with Rovers for nine years, came through the Centre of Excellence and youth teams before signing his first professional contract earlier this year. Taylor, capped at Wales Under-19 level, was handed his debut as a substitute in the final game of the 2008/09 campaign and claimed his first start in Saturday's League One opener at Yeovil. Manager John Barnes said: "Ash is a promising young defender. He played well throughout pre-season and deserved to make his full debut on Saturday at Yeovil. "He is a good example of the hard work being done by the club with its Centre of Excellence and youth system and I'm pleased he has extended his contract." Taylor added: "I'm happy to have signed a new contract. I've really enjoyed being part of the first-team squad this summer and hope I can be involved regularly this season."
