Toulouse say no offers for want-away Machado

Published: 26 Jan 2012 - 15:47:02

Toulouse on Thursday rejected claims made by their want-away Portuguese midfielder, Paulo Machado, that they have rejected bids for him from other clubs.

"Following the interviews by Paulo Machado and his agent... (Toulouse president) Olivier Sadran would like to clarify, without malice or irony, that TFC have to date not received a single transfer offer for this player," read a statement published on the Toulouse website.

Machado wishes to leave Toulouse in order to boost his chances of being named in Portugal's squad for the 2012 European Championship.

The 25-year-old had claimed, via his agent, that Sadran had told him he could leave the club during the January transfer window, only to change his mind.

Machado, who joined Toulouse from Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2009, has made only 15 appearances this season, scoring three goals.

Earlier in the season, he was dropped from the first-team squad for 10 days as a punishment for leaving the stadium early after being substituted at half-time of a match against Nancy on September 24.
