Zokora predicts better times

Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora has no doubt that Juande Ramos' side has the ability to finish in the top four next season.

Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan said after his side's home defeat to Chelsea on Monday that the top four next season will be the same as this, but Ivory Coast international Zokora disagrees.

Tottenham will finish in mid-table this term largely because of their poor start to the season under former boss Martin Jol, but Zokora is expecting a much better challenge in 2008-09 particularly as the signing of Croatian midfielder Luka Modric has already been confirmed.

"Modric's arrival is great news for fans, as it shows we mean business," said Zokora.

"This is a club that has the fan base and the money to try to get into the top four Champions League places next season - and we will do it. I'm convinced we can and will do it.

"I watch my Ivory Coast friends Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou playing for Chelsea in the Champions League and just wish it was me.

"I only want the best. That is what all the players at Spurs want and, under Ramos, we can do it - we can become a top-four club. Why not?"
