Woody show pleases Ramos

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Juande Ramos was delighted with big-money signing Jonathan Woodgate's debut in the goalless draw at Everton.

The £7million recruit from Middlesbrough played the full 90 minutes at Goodison Park and helped Spurs to a well-earned point against the high-flying Toffees.

Ramos commented afterwards: "It was a fairly balanced game overall, both teams were intent on winning.

"The first half was Everton's, but increasingly it was Spurs who were the better team after the break.

"It was a fair result in the end and I was happy with Woodgate's first game. He played very well in his first match.

"He does not know his team-mates too well, but he is a player of great experience and, taking that into consideration, he played very well and is someone who can bring great benefits to Tottenham.

"I hope we have no problems with Woodgate's fitness. There are a lot of matches in our schedule and maybe he will need a rest and if he wants that I hope he will let us know."
