Ukraine trip excites Bent
18 Feb 2009 - 11:52:25
Tottenham striker Darren Bent is expecting a very tough game when Harry Redknapp's side take on Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Cup on Thursday.
The round of 32 first leg clash is expected to take place in freezing conditions in Ukraine but Bent is looking forward to having a rare opportunity to show Redknapp what he can do.
The former Charlton Athletic forward has been a periphery figure since Redknapp was installed as manager at White Hart Lane and spoke recently about the possibility of leaving the club in the summer.
However, injuries are likely to give Bent the chance to shine in Ukraine, and he said: "This is another challenge for us, and going out there and getting a result in tough conditions will be a great achievement for us.
"The UEFA Cup gives us the opportunity to test ourselves against teams from other countries and cultures, and hopefully we can do the job on Thursday.
"It's all about getting momentum going. It doesn't matter what competition we play in, we have to be winning games.
"If we can go as far as we can in this competition, start climbing the league and win the Carling Cup, all of a sudden it will be a great season!"
