Tottenham vs Inter Milan: Match preview - Will Bale torment the Nerazzurri again?
Tottenham are dreaming of competing in the lucrative Champions League next season, but before that there is the task of beating Inter Milan. And for Andre Villas-Boas' team they will have their eyes firmly focused on a place in the Europa League quarter-finals.
Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas can be satisfied that his side are on a roll after beating Arsenal to move third in the Premier League, and with man of the moment Gareth Bale in fine form he hopes his side can secure the win in the first leg of the tie.
The game has a long way to go to match the level of the Champions League group matches against Inter two seasons ago, when Gareth Bale hit a hat-trick in the San Siro only to finish on the losing side before Spurs won the return game.
Team-mate Michael Dawson says with Bale around anything is possible.
"He's one of the best players in the world at the moment, and probably the best in the world for me right now."
Defoe added: "He has realised that he is a good finisher - in fact he is a great finisher with a great left foot. When things aren't going well in a game he can just take the ball, beat two players and score.
Tottenham look set to be without Emmanuel Adebayor, with the striker having suffered a knee injury during Sunday's north London derby win over Arsenal.
Mousa Dembele also took a knock in that much but trained on Wednesday and is fit to face Inter.
The Serie A side have a number of injury problems to contend with as top-scorer Diego Milito (knee) is out for the season, while centre-backs Andrea Ranocchia (knee) and Walter Samuel (Achilles) are sidelined.
Inter will have the benefit of Antonio Cassano, someone they missed over the weekend when he was benched after an argument with Stramaccion.
