Tottenham hitman Jermain Defoe is relishing linking up with Peter Crouch again. The pair played together briefly at Portsmouth before Defoe was sold back to Spurs in January. But they are set to be reunited at White Hart Lane as boss Harry Redknapp, who brought them both to Fratton Park, beefs up his Tottenham team. 'I have always said that Crouchy is a great player and he is someone who will score goals,' said Defoe. 'If you bring someone like that into the club it is only going to help. I have played with him for a number of years and I love playing with him. 'We have got a lot of fantastic players at the club and I'm sure everyone will look forward to him coming in. We play a bit differently away from home and I think bringing Crouchy in will help us. 'Sometimes you get difficult games and teams put you under pressure. You can't play football and sometimes you have to go long and be more direct. 'If you look at Crouchy's size and presence, he allows you to do that. If he does come in he will definitely help the team.' Despite his delight over Crouch's imminent arrival, Defoe has admitted he will be sad to see Darren Bent leave. The Spurs striker is on the verge of signing for Sunderland. 'When Darren is confident he is unstoppable,' added Defoe. 'Everyone wants to play football so you can understand why he wants to go. If he does leave I wish him well.'
