Tottenham's Holtby to leave White Hart Lane after only a season?

German international signed last January but has since become disillusioned with his role at Spurs.

Reports have come out of White Hart Lane recently about several players wanting out of the club. Lewis Holtby, who joined the top four hopefuls during last season’s winter transfer window for a fee believed to be around 1.75 million euros, is reportedly sick of his bit-part player status at the North London club, and is looking for a way to revive his World Cup squad chances with Germany. His agent again has reiterated his desire to play regular football, and with Julian Draxler seemingly set on leaving Schalke, he could leave the path open for Holtby to return to the Bunndesliga club.

“Lewis is desperate to play, which is why we are looking intensively for solutions," declared Holtby’s agent Marcus Noack.

“Schalke is an interesting option”, and with Tim Sherwood’s man-management skills yet to be truly tested, January could be a very difficult for the Tottenham manager, who has implanted his brand of attacking football onto Spurs with his 4-4-2 system, leaving Paulinho, Sandro, Moussa Dembele, Gylfi Siggurdson, Etienne Capoue and Holtby, along with youngster Nabil Bentaleb, scrapping over two central midfield places. With injuries decimating Tottenham’s midfield in recent months, Holtby’s for first-team midfield dominance may have come and gone.
