Tottenham's Harry Redknapp says there's no formula to success as Europe beckons

A year ago Redknapp won the FA Cup with Portsmouth, at Wembley Stadium, and after arriving at White Hart Lane to take over from Juande Ramos, he has turned Spurs' fortunes around in remarkable fashion. "I don't think there is any hidden formula to this game," insisted Redknapp, who are one point behind seventh-placed Fulham with a game to play. "I don't think Alex Ferguson has a hidden formula either. He knows good players, how to put a team together, how to play, get them in their right positions and treat them right. I treat them as I like to be treated myself. I treat them with respect when they deserve it. "If they step out of line you come down on them. It's just knowing the game basically. You have to know the game. That is all it is, common sense, there is nothing that clever. Working with good players, good pros who are easy to work with." Spurs' hopes of reaching Europe remain slim. They need to win at Liverpool and hope Fulham lose at home to Everton, who will have the little matter of the FA Cup final on their mind. Nethertheless, when Redknapp arrived, all Spurs fans were fearing relegation after the club's worst ever start and he added: "We couldn't have tried harder, we've been on a fantastic run. We'll give it our best shot next week but you go to Liverpool who have a fantastic team. "It is a great game to finish on, I love going to Liverpool as a football manager. It is such a special place, with the crowd and the atmosphere. At Anfield it is amazing and the fans are amazing "If, when I arrived, you had said we would still be in with a chance going into Europe in last game, I wouldn't have believed it. Let's be truthful, I would have taken fourth from bottom when I arrived." Meanwhile, Tottenham's Under-18 lost 1-0 to Arsenal, at White Hart Lane yesterday, in the Premier Academy League Final, with a goal from Rhys Murphy.
