Tottenham In Pursuit of Brazilian Confederations Cup Star
According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur and Brazilian side, Corinthians, have agreed a £17million deal for midfielder, Paulinho.
Corinthians initially told Spurs to increase their £15million bid, and it appears they’ve responded by doing so.
For those who are unfamiliar with Paulinho, his full name is Jose Paulo Bezerra Maciel Junior.
He’s a 24-year-old energetic box-to-box midfielder who is well known for his aerial abilities and combative approach to the game – a true warrior in the centre of the park.
If said rumours appear to be true, it’s a huge signal of intent that Spurs are looking to make some serious changes in order to challenge for a Champions League place next season.
With Scott Parker on his way out of White Hart Lane, Paulinho’s arrival would potentially create a fearsome defensive-midfield partnership between himself and Brazilian hard man, Sandro, allowing Mousa Dembele to push up, playing in the trio behind a lone striker, where he is more of an attacking threat.
A lot of Spurs fans will agree with me when I say that in order for them to really challenge, and maintain a season-long threat to the top four, they need some fresh faces upfront – desperately.
Spurs are said to be interested in the likes of David Villa, Christian Benteke and Roberto Soldado. All very hot names and very well equipped in the goal-scoring department.
The question is: whom will they bring in?
