Tottenham close in on Brazilian Sandro

Redknapp has admitted previously that he rates the 20-year-old and with a midfielder high on his list of priorities a deal is expected shortly. It is understood that an agreement with the player's club is set to be announced following the final matches in the Brazilian Serie A this weekend when Internacional could win the title if they beat Santo Andre.  Related ArticlesBrazilian striker Welliton keen on Spurs moveRedknapp: Spurs too lethargic at Old TraffordInternacional will receive 70 per cent of the £6 million, with the rest going to third-party owners. Sandro would then fly to England to complete a medical and sign a contract within the next 10 days. Luiz Paulo Chignall, Sandro's agent, said: "This deal is very advanced although Internacional are yet to receive some important documents." Sandro, who has one cap for Brazil, said: "I don't want to speak too much about this but I am ready to move to Europe. I am convinced my style will suit a team that favours an attacking approach." Meanwhile, Tottenham striker Peter Crouch believes the Carling Cup defeat by Manchester United can be put to bed quickly. Crouch, a substitute during the 2-0 quarter-final defeat at Old Trafford, said: "It was a bit of a strange game. We started really well in the first half-hour and if we'd have scored first it might have been a very different game. "But they got the first goal and at Old Trafford it's very hard to get that back. It was disappointing. Everyone was frustrated with how it went because it was the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup. "We all wanted to progress and we have a good history in the competition that we wanted to continue."
