Hull City boss Phil Brown is delighted to have finally agreed a deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Anthony Gardner.
The 27-year-old is set to join the Tigers on a loan basis initially, with a £2.5million deal to follow in the January transfer window if things go to plan.
Brown told the Hull Daily Mail: "We have been in touch with Spurs and they want a transfer fee on a permanent basis.
"We've agreed a loan fee taking us to the January transfer window with a view to a permanent move. I think it's a win-win situation for both clubs and the player.
"Anthony seems to be surplus to requirements at his own club and we also know that Anthony wants to get back on the international scene that he was briefly on at Tottenham.
"If he's playing first-team football then one, we'll be happy; two, he'll be happy because he's playing regular first-team football, and three, Tottenham may get a reasonable fee for the player."
Gardner has been at White Hart Lane for more than seven years, having started his career with Port Vale.
