Sunderland knock back Spurs' 7m demand for defender Alan Hutton

Alan Hutton's permanent switch to Sunderland is on the brink of collapse as Steve Bruce is refusing to meet Tottenham's £7million valuation of the defender. Scotland right-back Hutton joined the Black Cats in February and has been a huge success at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland boss Bruce was hoping to make the move permanent this summer but is only willing to spend £3.5m on the player - half of what Spurs are demanding, according to The Daily Mirror. Loan star: Scotland defender Alan Hutton (left) has impressed at Sunderland this season but a permanent switch from parent club Tottenham is in serious doubt Bruce has, therefore, registered an interest in Hamburg's giant Ivory Coast right-back Guy Demel, who is available for transfer at around £4million.
