Spurs to miss out on Forlan

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan will not be joining Tottenham Hotspur despite reported interest, according to his agent.

The former Manchester United striker has been one of the most prolific marksmen in Europe after leaving the Premier League for La Liga in 2004.

Forlan spent three seasons at Villarreal before joining Atletico last summer.

The Uruguay international's strikerate in Spain had reportedly alerted Spurs boss Juande Ramos.

Spurs are on the lookout for at least one new striker to fill the void created by Robbie Keane's departure and the potential loss of Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United.

However, the 29-year-old will not be swapping the Vicente Calderon for White Hart Lane this summer, according to his representative.

"Forlan is very happy at Atletico," revealed Forlan's agent Daniel Bolotnicoff.

"I don't know anything about Tottenham's supposed interest and him leaving would be very difficult."
