    Spurs tie up Pavlyuchenko

    30 Aug 2008 - 17:47:32

Tottenham Hotspur have finalised an agreement to sign Russia striker Roman Pavlyuchenko from Spartak Moscow.

The 26-year-old is expected to cost Spurs well in excess of £10million and his arrival is likely to smooth the way for Dimitar Berbatov to leave north London and head to Manchester United.

Pavlyuchenko has scored nine times in 22 appearances for Russia to date, including three goals in the European Championship finals this summer.

He also scored both goals for his country in their 2-1 qualifying victory over England in Moscow last October.

Pavlyuchenko had made it clear that he was set to join Spurs, after missing the second leg of Spartak's Champions League qualifying tie against Dynamo Kyiv.

"I can confirm I'm moving to Tottenham," he told uefa.com. "Everything happened very quickly. I did not even have time to say goodbye to my Spartak team-mates.

"I shall be granted a visa now and as soon as it is ready, I'll fly to England for the signing of the contract."
