Spurs suffer Defoe blow

Tottenham have confirmed that Jermain Defoe faces several weeks on the sidelines after injuring a foot in training on Friday.

The 26-year-old only rejoined Spurs from Portsmouth earlier this month since when he has netted three times in four starts for Harry Redknapp's side.

Some reports have suggested the England international could be out for the season although a club spokesman said it is hoped the striker would be out for no more than a month.

If that is the case Defoe would miss the Premier League games against Bolton, Arsenal and Hull, as well as the UEFA Cup matches against Shakhtar Donetsk.
