Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign Wigan Athletic's Honduras midfielder Wilson Palacios for a fee reported to be in the region of £14million.
The 24-year-old needs to secure a work permit to complete his switch to White Hart Lane, having impressed during just over a year with the Latics.
Palacios first moved to England for a trial with Arsenal, before joining Birmingham City on a six-month loan from Olimpia.
In January last year he headed to the JJB Stadium and his excellent form there sparked interest from Spurs, with Manchester City also having been linked with a move for Palacios' signature.
A statement on Spurs' official club website read: "We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement for the transfer of Wilson Palacios from Wigan Athletic.
"Personal terms have been agreed and a medical completed, we now await the Honduras international receiving his work permit before completing his registration."
