Spurs offer Ledley King a two-year deal worth 70,000 a week plus a testimonial

Tottenham have offered injury-prone skipper Ledley King a new two-year deal and a lucrative testimonial. King of the Lane: Ledley has been offered a new deal The 29-year-old has severe problems with his left knee and is unable to train or play two games in a week. But manager Harry Redknapp wants to keep King at White Hart Lane until 2012 and has come up with a reported deal worth £70,000 a week for the England star. This despite just eight games so far this season and no appearances since limping off with a damaged hamstring against Sunderland on November 11. A Spurs insider told The Sun: 'Harry rates Ledley so highly that he's desperate to keep him here. We all know about his knee problems and how he struggles to play more than one game a week but he's still viewed as a real asset for the club. 'And that's why he's getting this new deal - as recognition of his importance to the club and also as a reward for battling through the pain barrier for Tottenham so many times in the past.'  Everton v TOTTENHAM: A defensive double blow as Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King miss outWelcome break to help Spurs linchpin Ledley deal with fresh injury blowEngland boss Fabio Capello rules out Ledley from England World Cup plansSpurs boss Harry Redknapp is baffled by Jonathan Woodgate's injury woesSpurs to slash Ledley's wages as star opens talks over a new cut-price dealTOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FC
