Lyon's Brazilian striker Fred will definitely not be joining Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old had been expected at White Hart Lane for talks earlier this week, but his brother and agent, Rodrigo, says that any possible deal is now dead in the water.
He told the Daily Mirror: "Fred never said he would come to a meeting.
"Harry Redknapp said he would come to see us in France on Sunday, but he did not come.
"Then everything changed, they suddenly wanted us to come to Tottenham, but they let us down so he will not be joining them. It's as simple as that."
Spurs boss Redknapp had said on Tuesday: "He was supposed to come in today but didn't turn up, so I wouldn't bet on him coming tomorrow.
"I don't know what happened, the plan was for me to meet him and have a chat with him."
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas had also warned: "Regarding Tottenham, we haven't talked. The last news is that there is a disagreement between Fred and the English club.
"Fred is in the process of tarnishing his image, notably with the big clubs.
"He must go to a European club by Saturday evening and there will be a transfer fee."
