Spurs could use Roman Pavlyuchenko as bait to lure striker Mirko Vucinic

An immediate move is unlikely following uncertainties over a possible takeover at the Italian club, but Luciano Spalletti, the Roma coach, is keen to take Pavlyuchenko and hopes to land the Russian international on loan if a the Vucinic transfer cannot be agreed.
Vicinic, the 25-year-old captain of Montenegaro, can play either as a twin striker or out wide, but if he cannot be lured to North London, Spurs have joined the growing queue of clubs chasing Swedish striker Marcus Berg.
Tottenham eye CanaBerg, only 22, was impressive during the Uefa Under-21 Championship finals, claiming the Golden Boot with seven goals.
The Swede has scored 33 goals in just 56 appearances for Groningen, with 10 goals from 19 games at Under-21 level and one from seven senior appearances for Sweden.
Berg's club FC Groningen appear to have accepted have accepted that they are unlikely to keep the player, but the growing interest appears to have increased his worth. Initially, he was valued at around £4.5 million but that price is understood to have increased to closer to £9m.
Ajax were considering a move for Berg, but his destiny is more likely to be the Premier League with Spurs facing opposition from Everton and several more clubs.
Berg has indicated he would like to move to England or Spain and his strapping build and heading ability would suit Spurs.
