Spurs closing in on Santana

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be close to completing the signing of Fiorentina's Argentinian midfielder Mario Santana.
The 26-year-old has been with the Florence club for two seasons, having previously played in Italy for Venezia, Chievo and Palermo, but he slipped down the pecking order with La Viola last term.
Spurs are set to pay around £4million to secure the services of Santana, who is an Italian national by marriage.
Fiorentina sporting director, Pantaleo Corvino, told The Sun: "It is a figure that satisfies us because Santana does not feature in our plans for the 2008-09 season.
"I expect Santana to join Spurs within the next few days as he has been offered a three or four-year contract in London."
However, another possible transfer target seems to have eluded Spurs, with Lyon's France international goalkeeper Gregory Coupet believed to be on the verge of signing for Atletico Madrid.
