Spurs: No defensive problem

Tottenham assistant Chris Hughton has denied claims that the sale of Calum Davenport to West Ham has left Spurs short of defensive cover.

Central defender Davenport completed a switch to Upton Park for an undisclosed fee on Thursday.

But with captain Ledley King currently sidelined with a foot problem, Spurs will have to rely on Michael Dawson and Anthony Gardner as the only recognised centre-backs at the club.

However, Hughton insists there is enough versatility in the squad to cope, despite the sale of Davenport.

"It's not a worry," he claimed. "What we do have is players who have been called upon and can play at centre-back.

"Pascal Chimbonda can play centre-half and we're also aware Tom Huddlestone has played there.

"Didier Zokora is another player, so at this moment in time we're not worried about that position."
