Tottenham Hotspur's woes have increased with the news that striker Roman Pavlyuchenko will be sidelined for at least three weeks by an ankle injury.
The 26-year-old Russia international was forced out of the 1-0 weekend defeat to Hull City ten minutes before half-time and a subsequent scan has shown partially torn ankle ligaments.
A short statement from Spurs confirmed: "Roman will now undergo further treatment on his ankle after specialists declared him unfit to play for the next three weeks."
Pavlyuchenko joined Spurs just before the transfer deadline for more than £13million from Spartak Moscow, being seen as a direct replacement for Dimitar Berbatov.
He has scored once in five appearances for the North London club, with his only goal coming in the 2-1 Carling Cup third round victory at Newcastle United.
