Tottenham Hotspur are set to be without Ricardo Rocha for up to ten weeks after the defender underwent surgery on an injured ankle.
Rocha has managed just five appearances this season after being troubled by the problem and has gone under the knife in a bid to end his injury frustration.
The 29-year-old has started just 13 Premier League games following his £3.3million arrival from Benfica in January.
"The operation went very well," Rocha told Antena 1.
"Now I want to recover well and in the fastest time possible.
"Before the operation we thought that the period out of action would be four to six weeks, but things were a little worse than we imagined and I must stop playing for between eight and ten weeks."
Meanwhile, Jermaine Jenas will miss Thursday's UEFA Cup meeting with Anorthosis Famagusta but is not expected to be out for a prolonged period.
"JJ's still out, but hopefully he'll return on Sunday (against Liverpool)," confirmed manager Martin Jol.
Jol also revealed that Aaron Lennon will miss the European tie with a 'slight swelling of the knee'.
