Robinson stands by Jol
26 Sep 2007 - 13:15:27
Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson insists all the club's players are backing under-fire boss Martin Jol to lift the team out of their current malaise.
The Dutchman's position at White Hart Lane has been the subject of much speculation for more than a month, but intensified this week when Sunday's 1-1 draw at Bolton left the club in the relegation zone.
Spurs face Middlesbrough in a Carling Cup third round clash on Wednesday and Robinson knows only an impressive display and victory will satisfy Jol's critics.
The England goalkeeper said: "The players are fully behind the manager. We'll dig the results out for him in the next few weeks.
"People are going to talk because of what's happened already this season, but we've got a very close, tight ship in there. We're keeping everything in-house. We're going to get the results.
"The manager picks the team but you have to have the respect and pride to go out there and do it for yourself, the team, the club and your manager. You're playing for a lot of people when you go out there."
