Report: Spurs close in on Diarra

Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Real Madrid defensive midfielder Lassana Diarra, according to reports. It had been reported earlier this month that Spurs had made a move for Diarra - who wants to seal a switch back to England. The French international has already played for Arsenal, Chelsea and Portsmouth in the Premier League and now he looks set to join his fourth club. Redknapp signed Diarra during his time at Portsmouth, and has already confirmed his hope of completing his signing. A deal, worth around £10million, is now believed to be close to completion. Diarra's arrival would be a welcome one for Redknapp, who is currently missing his only two defensive-minded midfielders in Wilson Palacios and Sandro through injury.
