Redknapp thrilled with Pavlyuchenko reaction

Harry Redknapp hopes Roman Pavlyuchenko may have finally turned the corner after the Russian scored twice to fire Tottenham into the sixth round of the FA Cup.

The Russian followed up his brace off the bench against Wigan at the weekend with two more goals in a 4-0 victory over Bolton to set up a last-eight clash with Fulham. Redknapp has been critical of Pavlyuchenko's attitude in the past and the £13.8million striker was desperate to leave White Hart Lane in the January transfer window.

"He took his goals well, he is a quality finisher and he has proven that again," said Redknapp.

"Last week he was excellent in training, he was the best player in everything we did, he looked like he wanted to play.

"Nobody wants to see him do well more than me; it makes my job a lot easier.

"He is a very nice lad but he is laid back and some days he needs a rocket. He's playing like he's had a rocket."

Redknapp added: "He's in the team now, his confidence should be high and it is up to him to play well, he is bang in form and I wouldn't see myself leaving him out of the team at the weekend."

Bolton manager Owen Coyle was furious after what he felt was a foul on Sam Ricketts was missed in the build up to the opening goal and he did not believe that 4-0 was a true reflection of the match.

"In the build up to the first goal Sam Ricketts had been clearly blocked and when the move broke down he was out of position and Tottenham scored," said Coyle, whose record since taking charge at Bolton is just two wins from 10 matches.

"We would have defended that better but it was a big moment in the game. I was fed up that we never seemed to get those decisions. They scored two goals and we scored the other two for them."
