Redknapp responds to Rafa
01 Feb 2009 - 10:10:00
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has accused Liverpool counterpart Rafael Benitez of an over-reaction following his unhappiness at comments made about Robbie Keane.
Benitez suggested the Anfield club were considering reporting Redknapp to the Football Association after he admitted an interest in bring the former Spurs striker back to White Hart Lane.
But an angry Redknapp hit back at the Reds boss in the aftermath of his side's 3-2 defeat at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
Spurs themselves had accused Liverpool of unsettling the Republic of Ireland striker before his £20million move to Anfield last summer.
"The comments I made, there was absolutely nothing wrong with them. I don't know why the manager of Liverpool gets upset about everything - it is strange," said Redknapp.
"I said Robbie is a terrific player and a good lad but he belongs to Liverpool so it's not a possibility.
"It's crazy. I never mentioned I was interested in him. It was never a goer really."
Meanwhile, Redknapp revealed his disappointment after seeing his struggling side come back from two goals down only to lose 3-2 in heartbreaking fashion.
"That's the last four away games in which we've dominated proceedings and then gifted the opposition a winner two or three minutes from time," he said.
"Sitting there with five minutes to go I wouldn't have taken a draw because we were pummelling them and there was only one team who I thought would win it and that was us, but we've thrown it away again."
