Redknapp prepares 6m Ferdinand rescue bid as Bruce discards defender

London calling: Anton Ferdinand could be set for a switch back to the capital with Spurs or Fulham Tottenham are ready to rescue Anton Ferdinand from a future in Sunderland's reserves with a £6million bid for the defender in January. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is preparing to pounce after Black Cats boss Steve Bruce hinted he is ready to listen to offers for the former West Ham centre-half, according to the Sun. The ex-England Under 21 international appears no longer to be part of Bruce's long-term plans on Wearside and is keen for a return to London, possibly to Fulham, who are also keen on Ferdinand. The defender nearly made the move to White Hart Lane in August but a swap involving Alan Hutton fell through. Bruce is said to need cash to finance a joint  £12m raid for Wigan defender Maynor Figueroa and Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson.  21st Century Fox!
