Redknapp hails in-form Defoe
20 Aug 2009 - 08:16:48
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp described Jermain Defoe as "unplayable" after the in-form striker's hat-trick in Wednesday's 5-1 rout of Hull City.
Defoe took his tally to five goals in three games for club and country so far this season with clinical finishing in a one-sided game at the KC Stadium.
Wilson Palacios and Robbie Keane also found the target and afterwards Redknapp was delighted with Defoe and the quality of the overall team performance.
He enthused: "It was a terrific exhibition of attacking football. We looked dangerous every time we had the ball.
"Defoe looked almost unplayable, his form is absolutely electric.
"He looks stronger than I have ever seen him and I have known him since he was 14.
"He has done a lot of work in the gym in the summer and he looks even more explosive.
"If he continues to play like that he has got no problems."
Meanwhile, Redknapp fears that a thigh injury suffered by Heurelho Gomes against the Tigers will keep the goalkeeper sidelined for a lengthy spell.
