Redknapp annoyed by Webb
14 Mar 2010 - 10:44:55
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp was unhappy with referee Howard Webb's display in his side's 3-1 victory against Blackburn Rovers.
Although Spurs boosted their top-four hopes with a solid display, Redknapp was dismayed that Webb did not award his team two spot-kicks, one particularly clear-cut when Gareth Bale appeared to be felled by Michel Salgado.
He said after the three points had been accrued: "I never have a good day with Webb.
"I could tell you five or six games he's refereed and I seem to be very unlucky. Certainly we had two good shouts (for a penalty) and for their goal our keeper was fouled, I could see from where I was sitting."
Of his side's chances of playing in next season's Champions League, the veteran former Portsmouth and West Ham United boss added: "People have always got doubts about everything, all I've said is we have got a chance. It's not impossible, we've had a great year.
"It was a terrific result as I felt today was going to be a difficult day. Blackburn started the game well, they came out on the front foot. This was a big three points for us.
"I wouldn't have been disappointed to come in at 0-0 (at half-time). We were on top and the goal was the icing on the cake."
