Redknapp: No Crouch deal yet

Harry Redknapp has confirmed that he remains keen to bring Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch back to Tottenham, but insists a deal is still some way off.

Pompey boss Paul Hart said on Sunday that an agreement between the two clubs for the England international had been reached, but Redknapp remains cautious.

He told Sky Sports News: "We're interested in Peter and I think Daniel (Levy) is talking to Peter Storrie and the pair of them are very good negotiators so I don't know where it's going at the moment.

"Portsmouth have obviously got a price that they want and Daniel and myself have spoken and we've got a price we think's fair, so that's where we're at. Hopefully a compromise will happen and we can get something done.

"We're not that close. There won't be any medicals today and I don't think a deal has been struck yet. I think Daniel is still talking to Peter, so hopefully they can get something done.

"He won't be going to China (for the Asia Cup). He definitely won't be available or signed. It's still not a done deal. It's still ongoing. Whether something happens in the end you can never tell."
