Redknapp: Hands off Modric
27 May 2010 - 07:49:45
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has warned any potential suitors that Luka Modric is not for sale at any price.
The Croatia playmaker has been linked to Manchester United and leading Spanish and Italian clubs following an impressive season at White Hart Lane.
Modric returned from a four-month injury lay-off caused by a broken leg to help Spurs finish fourth in the Premier League table and secure Champions League football last season.
The £25million-rated midfielder scored three goals in 25 league appearances and is reported to be on United boss Sir Alex Ferguson's summer shopping list.
However, Redknapp insists that Modric is going nowhere ahead of a massive season next term for the north London club.
"There's no chance of it happening at all," he told The Sun. "Luka's key to everything that's happening at this place.
"Everybody knows what I think of him. And if you want to move on to higher levels you don't start flogging off your best players - to anyone.
"I have an excellent squad and, I stress, Luka Modric is going to remain a part of it."
Meanwhile, Redknapp has also scotched rumours that he is keen to sign Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland and defender Gary Cahill from Bolton Wanderers.
