Redknapp: City can be caught
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has warned Manchester City that their grip on the Barclays Premier League title could vanish within a matter of weeks.
Spurs head into Sunday's game at the Etihad Stadium five points behind the leaders after suffering just one defeat since being thumped 5-1 by City at White Hart Lane in August.
City will move six points clear if they beat Spurs on Sunday afternoon before second-placed Manchester United take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, but Redknapp said: "Newcastle got caught (in 1996) when they were 12 points ahead. Manchester United got caught by Arsenal that year (1998). It can evaporate. Nine points can go in a week."
Tottenham would have gone in to Sunday's game just three points behind City had they not drawn against Wolves at White Hart Lane last weekend.
Many saw that as a sign that Spurs do not have what it takes to sustain their unlikely title assault, but Redknapp was in buoyant mood about his side's chances of victory - even though City have a 100% home record in the league this term.
Redknapp is all too aware of how dangerous City can be, but he insists his players are just as capable of inflicting serious damage to the home side on Sunday.
"They are players that can carry the game to them, a bit like when we went to AC Milan and played that night when we hit them on the counter-attack."
