New Tottenham Hotspur head coach Juande Ramos has spoken of his desire to take the club to the top in English football, having succeeded Martin Jol in the White Hart Lane hotseat.
Former Sevilla tactician Ramos has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Spurs and is looking to make his mark quickly, with the north London club currently in the middle of a relegation battle.
Speaking through a translator, Ramos told reporters: "I want to take it step by step.
"I want to get results quickly to breed confidence and then I can think about the long-term. But this is a great club and the aim is to take us to the top.
"I rejected three of four offers from Premier League clubs in the summer. However, this is the right time for me to join Tottenham and I'm very happy to be here.
"I've only just arrived. I need to look at the players and depth of the squad before we think about buying.
"On the training pitch I speak English and the players understand me perfectly, but I am still learning and I prefer to face the media with a translator."
"When I start training we will try to get some discipline in the team and I'm sure that the players are going to respond to the challenge."
