    Ramos sets high Berba price

    04 Jan 2008 - 08:07:04

Juande Ramos has warned Dimitar Berbatov's suitors that it will cost them more than £30million to lure him away from Tottenham.

The Spurs boss is adamant the Bulgaria international striker will only be allowed to leave White Hart Lane should the club receive a British transfer record offer for his services.

The current record is believed to stand at around £30.8million, which Chelsea paid AC Milan to sign Andriy Shevchenko in summer 2006.

Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with Berbatov after his agent hinted the 26-year-old former Bayer Leverkusen striker was keen to move to a club which 'matched his ambition'.

However, despite admitting every player has a price, Ramos hopes his valuation will keep the coveted striker at the north London club.

"I think a club would have to break the British transfer record to sign Berbatov," said the Spaniard.

"At this moment Berbatov's value is more than this price. At least that is what we think.

"But everyone has a price. The intention of Tottenham is not to sell the player.

"The truth is that I understand perfectly why he would cost so much money because there are few players like Berbatov.

"And those who do exist play for great teams who play in the Champions League - and those great teams will not sell their players.

"He's the only great player who has not played in the Champions League that they could sign."
