Ramos coy on Robinson role
22 Feb 2008 - 09:06:49
Tottenham boss Juande Ramos refused to confirm whether Paul Robinson would retain his place for the Carling Cup Final despite recalling the keeper for the UEFA Cup clash with Slavia Prague.
The England keeper helped Spurs reach the last 16 stage in Europe with two vital saves in Thursday's 1-1 second leg draw with the Czech Republic side.
Jamie O'Hara's seventh minute strike at White Hart Lane was cancelled out by Matej Krajcik.
Spurs won the tie 3-2 to aggregate to set up a meeting with PSV Eindhoven, but before their date with the Dutch side next month is the small matter of a final meeting with Chelsea on Sunday.
However, despite being recalled after a ten-match absence in which Radek Cerny was preferred, Ramos refused to confirm whether Robinson would start at Wembley.
He said: "There is a lot of things to consider before deciding on the final team line-up for Wembley.
"It is important that all the players are fit enough and in the right condition.
"We want him to produce the best performance possible and give the best of himself.
"He was out for a while but his performance was magnificent."
Meanwhile, Ramos played down concerns that Pascal Chimbonda would miss Sunday's showpiece despite being substituted on the hour-mark due to injury.
"It doesn't seem like a particularly serious injury and he should recover in the three days before the final," he confirmed.
"But the most important time is the first 24 hours and we will check on him and see how he is."
