Ramos: Berba staying put
20 Dec 2007 - 08:16:57
Tottenham Hotspur manager Juande Ramos has once again dismissed rumours linking star striker Dimitar Berbatov with a January transfer away from White Hart Lane.
The 26-year-old Bulgaria international continues to be strongly linked with Manchester United, but Ramos insists that Berbatov will only leave as part of a record-breaking deal.
He told The Sun: "There is no chance Berbatov will leave in January. On the contrary, we need Berbatov because if we want to reach our objectives we need a player of his class.
"I can only tell you that Berbatov is a great player and with so little money it's impossible to take him.
"They have to put a lot of money on the table and many good players to compensate for the quality of Berbatov.
"Dimitar for us is a player who is not for sale. It will be very difficult, very complicated for anyone to take him."
Berbatov joined Spurs in the summer of 2006 for £10.9million from Bayer Leverkusen and has netted 29 goals in 72 appearances for the north London club.
