Pavlyuchenko's lack of English makes it hard to deal with him, admits Redknapp
Published : 25 Feb 2010 14:03:11

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has admitted he finds it difficult to deal with Roman Pavlyuchenko owing to the Russian's limited grasp of English. Despite spending more than 18 months in England since his £13.8m move from Spartak Moscow in August 2008, Pavlyuchenko still struggles to speak the language and prefers to surround himself with Russian-speaking friends and skip English lessons. Language barrier: Spurs boss Harry Redknapp admits Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko's limited English is troubling and difficult to deal with Redknapp said: 'We do see eye to eye. I get on very well with him, Well, I say that, it is difficult to talk to him - he doesn't speak much English. 'It is not easy. I can't go up to him and have a chat with him every day because there is only a few words you can get out of him.' But, despite hankering after a move abroad and voicing his discontent with life at White Hart Lane, Pavlychenko has scored five goals in his last three outings and given Redknapp a 'nice selection headache' ahead of Sunday's key Premier League clash against Everton. Hot streak: Pavlyuchenko has blasted four goals in two games for Tottenham 'He can only get himself out of the team now,' said Redknapp after the Russian's double against Bolton in the FA Cup last night. 'I have said all along when he works hard and wants to play he is a fantastic technical player. I could have sold him in the winter, but we didn't want to sell him. He is a smashing lad.'
