Pavlyuchenko could still be on his way as Spurs striker's agent calls Russians
Published : 02 Feb 2010 11:22:04

Roman Pavlyuchenko's agent is still working on the striker's exit from Tottenham Hotspur - despite the transfer window closing in England. Clubs in the striker's native Russia can make signings up to March, when their domestic season starts, and Lokomotiv Moscow are keen to snap up the unhappy 28-year-old. 'The window closing means that Roman will not go to another European club,' said his agent, Oleg Artemov. Not giving up: Pavlyuchenko (right) is still hoping to wave goodbye to Spurs 'Now the Russian option looks very likely. On Monday I talked to the president of Lokomotiv, Nikolai Naumov, three times. The process continues.' White Hart Lane boss Harry Redknapp is keen to hold on to Pavlyuchenko, especially after allowing to Robbie Keane to join Celtic on loan for the rest of the season. But Pavlyuchenko will take a lot of persuading that he still has a future at Spurs after being restricted to just substitute appearances in the Barclays Premier League and the odd start in cup competitions this season. Spartak Moscow have also shown interest in a player they sold for £13.8million after Euro 2008, but they are not prepared to pay anywhere near the asking price and moved for AZ Alkmaar's Brazilian striker Ari at the weekend. Lokomotiv believed they would be in the driving seat to sign Pavlyuchenko once the European window closed, but Keane's last-minute departure could prove a problem.
