Pavlyuchenko confirms his departure from Tottenham after nightmare year
Published : 28 Nov 2009 22:43:29

Down in the dumps: Roman Pavlyuchenko Roman Pavlyuchenko has confirmed his departure from Tottenham and will instruct his representatives to meet chief executive Paul Barber this week to organise a transfer in January. The Russian striker, signed for £14million by Juande Ramos last year, has endured a terrible season, having played just four games for Harry Redknapp, scoring one goal, and having been part of the Russia team knocked out of the World Cup by Slovenia. 'I have never had such a black period in my life,' said Pavlyuchenko. 'Russia's failure was a continuation of a catastrophic 2009. I only sit on the bench for my club and now it did not work for the national team, either. 'I can only hope that January will bring changes in my life. Naturally, I mean moving clubs. My agents are coming to London this week to negotiate it.' The only question is whether former club Spartak Moscow can afford to take him home or whether former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri will take a chance on him at Roma.
