Wigan Athletic midfielder Wilson Palacios is on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur after Latics boss Steve Bruce revealed he had accepted a bid for the Honduran.
Palacios, 24, has impressed since joining the Latics on a permanent basis 12 months ago and has previously been linked with £10million moves to Manchester United and Real Madrid.
The Honduras international had spent the previous six months on loan at the JJB Stadium from former club side Olimpia.
This season the midfielder has been in eye-catching form during his 23 appearances in all competitions for the Latics.
Bruce was hoping to resist offers for any of his star players during the transfer window, but admitted the amount on offer from Spurs was too good to refuse.
However, he was at pains to stress that the agreement over the structure of the deal has yet to be agreed.
"The two clubs have virtually agreed a fee. It is how that fee should be paid," he said. "It is up to us as a selling club to demand what we want in terms of how we should be paid and how we should be structured. We will see what happens.
"Wilson is still with us and I'm preparing him to play against Manchester City (on Saturday). That's the situation at the moment but we'll see what happens in the next few hours."
