New Spurs contract for Bale

Gareth Bale has committed his long-term future to Tottenham Hotspur after agreeing a new four-year contract at White Hart Lane.

Bale, 20, has been one of the consistent performers in a side that has secured Champions League football for next season this term.

The 20-year-old Wales international has overcome a slow start to life at White Hart Lane following his arrival from Southampton in 2007 to become a key player in Harry Redknapp's side.

In recent weeks, Bale has been linked with a big-money summer move to the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City, but he has now committed his future to the north London club until summer 2014.

Speaking last month, manager Harry Redknapp admitted the versatile left-sided youngster was one of the players he was keen to build future success around.

"We're looking to build a team here. We wouldn't be looking to sell players like him. He's the future of the football club," he stated.

"We're a club that is looking to build a new stadium, a new training ground. We're a club that wants to go upwards and forwards.

"We're not into selling a player like Gareth Bale, that's for sure."
