New boys impress Davids

Edgar Davids believes Tottenham now have a stronger squad than the one that secured fifth place in the Premiership last season. Spurs have lost key men Michael Carrick and Mido over the summer, but Davids has been impressed by their replacements during the club's unbeaten pre-season campaign. Speaking after Saturday's 2-1 win against Real Sociedad, the veteran Dutch midfielder told the club's official website: "The new signings have settled very well and they have already left their mark so I am very hopeful for the rest of the season. "We have lost the likes of Michael Carrick and Mido, but instead of that we have Dimitar Berbatov who is strong on the ball and very skilful, and we have Didier Zokora and Tom Huddlestone so I think we are looking good. "I am happy that the season is approaching and we can go and start again." Tottenham get their Premiership campaign underway with a trip to Bolton Wanderers on August 19.
