Make-or-break op for Woodgate

Injury-plagued Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate is facing one final operation to save his career.

Woodgate managed only three appearances last season before being struck down by a groin problem in November.

The 30-year-old's career at Leeds United, Newcastle, Real Madrid and Middlesbrough has been ravaged by injury problems and Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has revealed the make-or-break nature of his latest issue.

"They're talking about having an operation for Jon now. That's his last chance," he revealed.

"Well, probably. His last resort, I think, will be an op.

"Someone abroad's going to do it. The physio's taken him.

"He's been all around the world looking for a cure."

Woodgate joined Tottenham in an £8million deal from Middlesbrough in January 2008.

The eight-times capped England international has made less than 50 appearances for the north London club.
